Right now that student closes the book and turns up Tuesday not having done it. On the platform they tap once and get an explanation drawn from your worksheet, with the page it came from.
Add 3/4 and 2/5. Give your answer in simplest form.
You can't add fifths to quarters directly. Find a denominator both share: 20. So 3/4 becomes 15/20 and 2/5 becomes 8/20. 15/20 + 8/20 = 23/20, which is 1 3/20.
How it stays honest
The explanation is built from your material and nothing else. It can't answer from the open internet, can't invent a method you don't teach, and can't be talked into doing the homework for the student. If your material doesn't cover something, it says so and suggests asking the tutor on Tuesday.
Every explanation cites the document and page it drew from. A student, a parent or a tutor can check it against the original in one tap.
Guided, not given
The first response is a hint about the method. The second is a worked example from your notes with different numbers. The third is the full solution. Most students never need the third, and the tutor can see how many hints each student used.
