9pm, Thursday. Stuck on question 7. Now what?

Right now you close the book and turn up Tuesday not having done it. On your centre's platform you tap once and get an explanation from the worksheet you're working on, in the way your tutor would explain it. Then a similar one to try.

Question 7

Add 3/4 and 2/5. Give your answer in simplest form.

5/9
23/20
6/20
1 3/20
Explanation
from your worksheet

You can't add fifths to quarters directly. Find a denominator both share: 20. So 3/4 becomes 15/20 and 2/5 becomes 8/20. 15/20 + 8/20 = 23/20, which is 1 3/20.

How it works for you

Your centre's worksheets, on your phone.

  • Set on Tuesday, on your phone by Tuesday night

Your tutor assigns the week's set after class. It's there when you get home. Due Friday, usually.

  • Marked the moment you finish

Right or wrong, straight away, with the worked solution. No waiting a week to find out.

  • Stuck? Hint, example, then the answer

Method first. Then a worked example with different numbers. Then the full solution if you still need it.

  • Timed sets when it matters

Practice papers on the clock, with results by question type so you know what to fix.

  • Nothing to install, no chat, no profiles

It's a page at your centre's address. Practice, not social.

Questions

Fair questions.

Including the one about whether it'll do your homework for you. It won't, and your tutor can tell.

  • Do I need to download an app?

No. It runs in the browser on any phone, tablet or laptop, at your centre's own web address. Nothing to install.

  • Will it do my homework for me?

No. When you're stuck it gives you a hint about the method first, then a worked example with different numbers, then the full solution. Your tutor can see how many hints you used. It won't write an essay for you or do a whole set.

  • Where do the questions come from?

From your centre's own worksheets and notes. The same ones you'd get on paper, in the same order. Every explanation shows the page it came from.

  • Can my friends or my tutor message me on it?

Your friends, no. There is no student-to-student messaging and no public profiles. You can send a question about the work to your tutor, and it goes to them, not to a stranger. Whether your tutor can message you is your centre's setting, and it is off unless they turn it on.

  • What does my parent see?

A one-page report every fortnight from the centre: what you worked on, what improved, what's next. Not your every answer, and not in real time.

  • Can I use it for exams?

If your centre sets timed sets, yes. Practice papers run on the clock with results by question type afterwards, which is how you find out which topic to fix before the real thing.

Your centre doesn't have this yet?

Show your parents this page.

There's a message on the parents page they can send to the centre. It takes thirty seconds, and centres usually say yes to the parent who asks.
